Strawberry Festival

The best part of Memorial Day weekend in our town is the Strawberry Festival. It's very busy since Daddy helps with the pancake breakfast before the parade and at the Kiwanis corn booth but it seems like everyone in town is part too so we see lots of friends around the festival grounds.
Emily and Mommy got to walk in the parade with our Brownie troop:
We got to go on lots of rickety carnival rides. Claire especially loved this roller coaster:

Brownies at Bolsa Chica

Emily's Brownie troop had their first field trip at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. We hiked for about a mile along the bluffs above the wetlands and saw the native and invasive plants, butterflies and talked about the animal that lived there (but hid for the most part).

When we were done walking, the girls got to explore the "touch tanks" and see what lived in the water:

Mother's Day

Claire's class hosted a wonderful Mother's Day tea for their moms. They made beautiful decorations and a yummy lunch. They also sang for us and served us.

On Sunday we took Grandma Holly to the Arboretum at Cal State, Fullerton. We got to see some really interesting trees and flowers. The girls favorite was this tree that had an interesting trunk. It grew in such a way that they could walk through the middle of it.
We loved this field of native wildflowers:
